The name Wæm Věz-feg is derived from the Constructi language, as Wæm Věz-feg was founded by Shëgarê Èqtê, who was culturaly Constructi.
Climate
Wæm Věz-feg has a yearly average temperature of 13°C (55°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 22°C (71°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 5°C (41°F). Wæm Věz-feg receives an average of 283 cm/y (111 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Wæm Věz-feg covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1342 m (4402 ft) above sea level.
Overview
Wæm Věz-feg was founded durring the early 15th century in spring of the year 1448, by Shëgarê Èqtê. The establishment of Wæm Věz-feg was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Wæm Věz-feg's construction back out of the project. Shëgarê Èqtê pushed on reguardles, and Wæm Věz-feg was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.
Wæm Věz-feg was built using the conventions of Constructi durring the early 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Wæm Věz-feg is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.
Wæm Věz-feg is buildings are arranged within a network of spacious cobblestone streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks, spikes, and fences to provide some protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. The town's minimaly adiquite are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.
A look around Wæm Věz-feg gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring just long enough for it to be uncomfortable. A second look around Wæm Věz-feg makes it abundantly clear the town suffered something horrible some time ago. It's as if the town itself is depressed. Smiles are few, cheer is nowhere to be had.
Civic Infrastructure
Wæm Věz-feg has an animal control department which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the control, impoundment, and disposition of animals.
Wæm Věz-feg has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Wæm Věz-feg. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Wæm Věz-feg's parks.
Wæm Věz-feg has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Wæm Věz-feg.
Wæm Věz-feg has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.
Wæm Věz-feg has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.
Wæm Věz-feg has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Wæm Věz-feg's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.
Wæm Věz-feg possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Wæm Věz-feg's grid is powered by a god's will and kindness.
Wæm Věz-feg's old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.
Wæm Věz-feg has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Wæm Věz-feg's natural decorations nor waterways.
Wæm Věz-feg has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.
Wæm Věz-feg has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.
Wæm Věz-feg has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.
Cultural Notes
Life is hard in Wæm Věz-feg. Its people are impoverished compared to their peers elsewhere. Something is making the locals stay, however, whether fear of the alternative, hope for a better future, or a stubborn attachment to their ancestral lands. Whatver the reason, living in this harsh area for generations has made the people of Wæm Věz-feg a notably resourceful and hearty people.
Wæm Věz-feg's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by vertical proportions, pointed arches, external buttressing, and asymmetry in the general shape of its buildings. The decorative features of the style were key, consisting of large arched windows, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses, and sculptures integrated into the structure itself. Occasionally, for very important buildings, an array of sculptures or one colossal sculpture might replace the entirety of the entrance to said building.
In Wæm Věz-feg there is a constant smell of overcooked presumably ethnic food.
The Beetle, Giant Stag near Wæm Věz-feg are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.
Wæm Věz-feg's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves square dance to channel Charm energies of tier 2 via divine sermons.
Economy
The following information was obtained via the Imperial Census Bureau as part of the Eyom Economic Outreach Program. It differs from Standard Imperial censuses in that many of Tom's citizens, regardless of culture, work in more than one occupation or hold more than a single job. History
In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Wæm Věz-feg was attacked by a group of notorious bandits. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Wæm Věz-feg lost 155 people, 371 livestock, and 52 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 161, when members of Wæm Věz-feg's militia enacted an operation to transport a specific artifact to a particular port unharmed. The operation was complicated by the officers in charge fight among themselves, weakening the army as a whole. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in defeat for Wæm Věz-feg's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Wæm Věz-feg's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
